Bennis, “Leadership is the ability to translate vision into reality.” Nigeria from independence to date has not been blessed with such a leader who is selfless, visionary, and sacrificial, who can translate the dream of our founding fathers and nationalists into reality- the dream of an indivisible, united, peaceful and prosperous nation. This explains the current situation we have in Nigeria, where a nation of about 180million people, that is about 56years old, with abundant human and natural resources, cannot feed itself nor provide job for its teeming unemployed youths, talk less of generating adequate power for its industrialization. This is despite the huge trillions of naira that had been sunk into the sector, without any meaningful result. Everyone’s life; is driven by something. What drives you is whatever you allow to guide and control your life. There are several things that people allow to drive there life where are: Guilt: They dwell on all the sins they have committed. Both the ones they committed consciously and the ones they were compelled to. In fact, they dwell more on the one they were compelled to and there after finds it very difficult to forgive themselves and others. Anger and Unforgiveness: Many people dwell on anger and unforgiveness, I agree with you, that you have been hurt and in fact people will continue to do so as long as you are still on this planet. But it begins to drive your life when you continually dwell in it, you allow yourself to be distracted and you gradually with your own hands, remove yourself from all that God have prepared for you. If I could turn back the hands of the clock, one course I would study is Philosophy; this is because I like to be both spiritual and philosophical about life and events. Indeed year 2017 is gradually ebbing away as we have climbed the third ladder of the year, the month of March. And if I may ask, how many of the dreams and New Year resolutions are you pursuing to logical conclusion? Have you been able to achieve any of them? Or what steps are you putting in place to ensure they are realized? Including me, how many of my dreams have I realized so far? The answer may be difficult to provide due to some explainable or unexplainable reasons. Obviously some of us may ascribe our inability to have achieved any of our dreams to the current economic reality in the country-the biting effect of recession.
