THERE IS PROTECTION IN CORRECTION

According to an adage, a child that despises elders' correction is threading the part of destruction. Everybody in life, no matter the age, education, wealth and intellectual background, is prone to committing errors or mistakes. This makes us human. Correction is one of the means to salvage us from the damage that may result from our errors or mistakes, by a corrector, who may likely be a friend or relative, older, wiser, or more experienced than us in life. It is also human nature to despise correction, due to pride, educational status, political position, and arrogance of ignorance, believing you are superior to the corrector. Correction is a method of protection from immediate or future pain and consequences of wrong actions we take, in marriage, relationships, career, ministry, finance, education, association, etc. The Holy Bible emphasizes the importance of receiving and giving correction, as it views it as a path to wisdom, understanding, and spiritual growth, while it also stated the consequences of rejecting correction. For example, Proverbs 10:17 says, "Accept correction, and you will find life; reject correction, and you will miss the road." (CEV) Accepting correction is one of the pathways to physical and spiritual growth, knowledge acquisition, destiny fulfilment, as well as character development. A man or woman who cannot accept correction will ultimately end in shame, regret and destruction. Also, Proverbs 12:1 says, " Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates corrections is stupid." (NKJV) Understand that, when someone tries to correct you from your wrong doing, it is based on love; accept it. The person is not trying to impose his will or opinion on you. Remember, we only correct those we love! One great source of correction for our wrong actions, thoughts or words is the infallible Word of God in the Holy Bible. Just like 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for CORRECTION, for instruction in righteousness." So, accepting correction from other's when done in love is good for us. Let's accept corrections with open hands and accept it from others lovingly. It will protect us from today's agony and future pain. Remember, there is protection in accepting corrections. Don't despise it. Accept it with love and sober reflection.
