DON’T BE A CASUALTY OF BLIND FAITH
Having faith is putting one's confidence and trust in a higher power or principle, frequently without having to see or comprehend everything in detail. Having faith frequently entails holding onto beliefs that are difficult to prove or physically observable.
Faith without wisdom and knowledge is dangerous! It may lead to fatality! What most of us do is to temp God and we call it blind faith. Understand that, Faith is activated in your favour over things you have no power or control over. Wisdom is defined as the correct application of knowledge. Right! Let’s look at how faith without wisdom can lead to fatality. It is common knowledge that a car without good tires or break pads is risky to drive in a journey. Now, wisdom demands that you check and change the tyres if they are worn out or the brake pads if they are not good before embarking on the journey. Those actions are within your control! You don’t expect God to do it for you. Now, if you say because I have faith in God for protection, because the Bible says, the Lord is your Shepherd…., and you put the car on the road; that is not faith (in fact it is called a blind faith); the car may crash and you end up in the hospital or morgue! God has not failed you, rather you temped God and paid for it! Hosea 4:6, says “my people perish because they lack knowledge….” Faith without work (reasonable action powered by wisdom and knowledge) is dead! God does not fail us. We are the ones that fail God, by expecting Him to do what He had given us power, knowledge and ability to do. Imran Khan says, “Faith without wisdom and knowledge could produce bigots completely lacking in compassion and tolerance.” Also, L.E. Modesitt Jr. says, “without power, knowledge is useless. Without knowledge, faith is tyranny. Without understanding, humanity is blind, and without all four, it is doomed.” Do not be a casualty and doomed by blind faith; its utter foolishness. (Ref: Proverbs 19:2-3; James 2:14, 19-20)
